We are a small design based studio located on the Northern Beaches of Sydney.

Richard Cole completed his Bachelor of Science (Architecture) and Bachelor of Architecture degrees, both with First Class Honours, from the University of Sydney in 1990. He worked with Peter Stutchbury, Paul Berkemeier, Hassell and MFA before starting up Richard Cole Architecture in 1998. He currently tutors at the University of Sydney. Through his projects he pursues the poetics of construction and the ways in which we choose to dwell. Richard is a registered architect and member of the Australian Institute of Architects. He has a keen interest in woodwork and fine furniture making and is also a patrolling member and Vice President of Avalon Beach Surf Life Saving Club.

Penelope Gibbs completed her Bachelor of Arts in European and East Asian History in the USA in 1998. She went on to complete a Bachelor of Architecture with First Class Honours at RMIT University, Melbourne in 2004. Prior to moving to Sydney, Penny worked with Peter Elliott Pty Ltd in Melbourne. Penelope is a registered architect and member of the Australian Institute of Architects.

Karla Wilford graduated from the University of Sydney with Honours in 1994. She has worked at fjmt as a team leader on high profile projects such as the University of Sydney law building, 1A Rose Bay Avenue and The St Barnabas Church Competition. Karla has also completed a number of her own projects. Her interests include mountaineering, rock climbing and trekking and she recently climbed the highest mountain in South America. Karla is a registered architect and member of the Australian Institute of Architects.

Cilla Cole graduated with a Bachelor of Economics degree from the University of Sydney in 1988 and a Graduate Diploma in Travel from James Cook University in 1990.  She is responsible for office management, accounts and financial planning.
